These three vertical paintings depicting bare trees are some of my most recent works where some shapes and marks are reminiscent of my First Nations heritage.
Layers of paint, collage elements (fabric, watercolour paper, hand painted and monoprint on tissue), stencil work and Posca markers are some of the mixed media used in the creation of this bold and beautiful piece.

“Meet You at the Moon” Series
Mixed media on 24” x 12” x 1/4” floating birch wood panels.
Square wood molding is adhered to the back of the 1/4” panel at top and bottom so it “floats” away from the wall for a contemporary look. Edges and backs are painted black then sealed with archival varnish. $350 each.

At one point I thought this painting was done, but as my art has progressed, I realized that it wasn’t, and here I begin the process of “reincarnation”. Alas, “Illumination” was born!

This piece, along with it’s sister painting, “Warm Embrace” (below), was accepted to the Sooke Fine Arts Show 2022. Using a limited palette, I built up the surface with various collage papers of marine charts, Korean text on paper, and other papers.
I then added paint in various ways (brush, roller, trowel) then overlaid the surface with this contrasting design.

Many layers of paint and collage elements make this piece highly tactile. The Amazing Journey, as it became, was one of my first larger pieces, that was accepted to the Sooke Fine Arts Show 2021.
